SAN FRANCISCO, April 20, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Ever dreamed of riding in the Goodyear Blimp? How about a VIP backstage experience with Britney Spears, or throwing the first pitch at a LA Dodgers game? More than 50 iHeartMedia radio stations in California have donated over 40 incredible experiences to raise money for Get Prepared California!, an initiative of the American Red Cross and the California Earthquake Authority to help people prepare, survive, and recover from California's next earthquake. This is the sixth year of the campaign and a milestone year with a lofty goal to hit over $1 Million for the cause.
Fans are invited to bid-on or buy one-of-a-kind experiences hosted on IfOnly, a marketplace for extraordinary experiences that benefit worthy causes around the world, starting at $150 per person. The Get Prepared California! Auction on IfOnly will be live at www.IfOnly.com/RedCross through May 2nd.
"This auction is such a great opportunity to promote the importance of earthquake preparedness across our state and to join forces with the American Red Cross to help Californians take the steps they need to be prepared," said California Earthquake Authority CEO Glenn Pomeroy.
During the past five years, the auction has raised nearly $890,000. All proceeds of the auction have helped support 32 chapters of the American Red Cross in communities throughout California. The American Red Cross has more than 27,000 volunteers in the Golden State, who provide disaster relief to affected families and teach disaster-preparedness training to Californians.
"We are thrilled to partner once again with the California Earthquake Authority and iHeartMedia in support of the Red Cross mission. Reaching the $1 million mark will go a long way in providing the resources needed to support our disaster-relief efforts and assisting those in need," said Jarrett Barrios, CEO of the American Red Cross Los Angeles Region.
"iHeartMedia is dedicated to serving the communities in which we live and work," said Kevin LeGrett, President of iHeartMedia's Southwest Division. "We are proud to partner with IfOnly to bring entertainment experiences to our listeners and donors while also having a meaningful impact in California for earthquake preparedness."
The experiences are live through May 2, 2016.
